However, concurrent application alongside high-concentration direct chemical exfoliants (AHA/BHA), unbuffered pure L-Ascorbic Acid (>15%), or leave-on Benzoyl Peroxide within the exact same application window induces excessive stratum corneum stress, trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL), and acute neurosensory stinging. Residual surface moisture acts as an unwanted penetration accelerator, driving rapid, uneven acid flux into viable epidermis. Furthermore, applying onto damp skin or without a dry-down pause precipitates severe formulation pilling under high-SPF sunscreens in Egypt's extreme summer heat (38–42°C). Clinical Protocol: Azelaic Acid should be applied strictly onto bone-dry skin; partition pure Vitamin C to alternating mornings and rotate potent direct chemical acids or prescription retinoids to alternate evenings, concluding with a multi-lamellar ceramide cream to buffer against hard tap water (200–800 ppm CaCO3).
